Why This Ticket Matters

On September 22, 1993, Nolan Ryan started for the Texas Rangers against the Seattle Mariners at the Kingdome.

Ryan injured the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow during the first inning and could not continue. The unexpected exit made his final pitch to Dave Magadan the last of a career that produced 5,714 strikeouts and seven no-hitters.

Seattle won 7–4. Randy Johnson watched from the opposite dugout as the career of the pitcher who had helped influence his development came to an unplanned end.
