December 15, 1957, Pittsburgh Steelers @Washington Redskins, Clark Griffith Stadium, Don Shula Last Game Played

Why This Ticket Matters

On December 15, 1957, the Washington Redskins defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 10–3, at Griffith Stadium. The game closed Don Shula’s seven-season career as an NFL defensive back.

Shula’s lasting fame came from the sideline. He became the winningest head coach in NFL history, led the Miami Dolphins to consecutive Super Bowl championships and coached the undefeated 1972 Dolphins—the only perfect season in modern NFL history.

This ticket captures the little-known ending of Shula’s playing career before he began the coaching journey that made him one of professional football’s defining figures.
