Before the stadium tours and worldwide phenomenon, Taylor Swift was the special guest.
Why This Ticket Matters
On August 24, 2008, an 18-year-old Taylor Swift appeared with Rascal Flatts at Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on the Bob That Head Tour.
Swift was already emerging as one of country music’s brightest young stars, but her career was about to reach another level. Her landmark second album, Fearless, had not yet been released. Within months, songs including “Love Story” and “You Belong with Me” would help transform her from a promising country performer into one of the biggest stars in popular music.
That before-and-after contrast gives this ticket its appeal. It documents a night when Taylor Swift was still billed as a special guest with another act at the same type of large venue she would soon command herself.
This ticket is a tangible artifact from the brief period immediately before the Taylor Swift phenomenon became impossible to overlook.
