A World Series ticket caught between an earthquake and the game that finally followed.
Why This Ticket Matters
Game 3 was scheduled for October 17, 1989, at Candlestick Park. The Loma Prieta earthquake struck shortly before the first pitch, halting the Series. The Giants and Athletics played the game on October 27, when Oakland won 13–7. The original admission connects a baseball championship to a moment when the region’s safety mattered far more than the score.
