Wrestling’s national boom reached Hersheypark Arena in December 1985.

1985 WWF, World Wrestling Federation, 12/6/1985

Why This Ticket Matters

This ticket dates from 1985, the breakthrough year in which the World Wrestling Federation accelerated its transformation from a regional promotion into a national entertainment phenomenon.

The first WrestleMania had been staged earlier that year, while stars such as Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat helped bring professional wrestling into mainstream popular culture. Live-event tickets from this period capture the excitement of the WWF’s rapid national expansion and the beginning of wrestling’s 1980s boom.

More than admission to a wrestling card, this ticket represents the era when the modern sports-entertainment industry was taking shape.
